Anver Beig Commemoration - 2006/04/02 17:05
This thread discusses the Content article: Anver Beig Commemoration
I shared these words.. at an event held today to commemorate the contributions of Br. Anver Beig to Islamic Work. Subhanallah the things said about him were amazing. Truly, Truly, Truly an amazing person.
One of the things said about him was that there were some sunnahs which he held on to very tightly i.e. ALWAYS smiling. One individual noted that he never heard him ever speak ill of anyone behind their back, anyone, ever! Someone else noted that they were envious of how he would always hug and kiss brothers he met, without any reservation.
In terms of accomplishments it is well known that he single handedly distributed thousands of Qurans via his own human and financial resources.
His love of Iqbal's poetry was hard to compete with. I can go on and on... but one of the most interesting things mentioned was by Br. Zafar Syed who I also had a chance to work with at the Mirror (he was an editor). He said that Br. Anver was an un-biased listener. Where people would present two radically different views and Br. Anver would listen to them without taking sides and would always bring people together. Subhanallah it was amazing to hear that from Br. Zafar because I remember vividly disagreeing with Br. Zafar on issues and I remember Br. Anver always looking for common ground to help appease both sides. It's really interesting because in that situation I knew if he sided with the younger guys on the team the elder person would be offended. While if he sided with the elder brother the youngers would be ticked. I thought Br. Zafar was on the money with all of the points he raised.
May Allah (S) forgive the sins of Br. Anver Beig and grant him a high position in Jannah. Ameen.
