Asl salam alaikum
Wow u pretty much portrayed what Pakistanis don't want to see or ignore. I totally agree with all the points u’ve raised in there about islam being a deen (way of life) transferring into religion

Re:6/5/2004 - Entry 01 Pakistan Journal - 2006/03/29 21:01 Of course my analysis Is a very general one and may arguably be a superficial one which is entirely based on my perceptions and conclusions I formed over a very short period of time. I mean I am definitely not trying to pigeon whole all pakistanis as being secular. In my future journal entries I will talk about meeting people with a very good and clear understanding of islam in Pakistan.

Re:6/5/2004 - Entry 01 Pakistan Journal - 2006/03/29 21:02 well I think u were complaining the whole time and nagging abt every single detail, its like u had a different perception of Pakistan b4 visiting it which was more life Afghanistan.. no offenses though but you were not happy with the single thing happening there. u even made a big deal about religionz like molvi do
u made namaz a problem for urself the whole time u stayed there, and abt dental hygiene thing mannn that was too exaggerating now come on even village ppl do know that we have to brush atleast once a day
if u had all these bad experiences it doesnt mean u portrayed the situation of the whole Pakistan for us prolly it was just ur family circle.....
no offenses though
hope u wud take the criticism as likely as u took the praise from the person above me

Re:6/5/2004 - Entry 01 Pakistan Journal - 2006/03/29 21:04 Thanks for visiting, please continue to read the rest of the entries and keep the criticism coming. I really appreciate it. When I was typing it up I made a consious effort to maintain the original entries (keeping them as is, avoiding being PC). But I am thinking I should put up some afterthoughts (what I think now in retrospect). Also in my journals there is a heavy emphasis on pointing out the things which are totally different there (or things that I found to be unusual). Thats not necesarily a negative thing it's simple taking note of anything which would be memorable. And about the toothpaste thing I stayed in at least 5 different people's homes. But my sister had been there a few years before so we came prepared.
