In light of Surah Fathiha, Fathiha is the summarization of the Qur'an
-Tafseer means to explain, the science of tafsir is vast, the sources of Tafseer:
-The Qur'an explains itself, The first source of Tafsir is the Quran itself ex. The word Ghashiyah (to cover) to be used to mean date. This meaning of "the Day of Ghashiya" is the day of judgment because it will cover you with fear.
-The Hadith is another source of Tafseer because the prophet would explain the meanings of the Quran.
-Great Mufassireen amongst the companions were the four caliphs, and then Ibn Abbas (goes on to quote more companions)
-The Arabic Language itself

-Surah Fathiha is the greatest surah of the Quran and its a good choice because everyone knows it.
-The correct translation is "The Opener"
-Fath is related to Conquest, Fathi, the one who opens
-It was revealed twice, both in Mekkah and in Medina, was referred to as one of two lights from Allah (the other was last 2 verses of Baqara)
-Names of Surah Fathiha- ash-Shifaa, the healer, umm ul Quran, the foundation of the Quran, the 7 oft repeated verses, al-Salaah (the connection between you and allah, and there is so Salaah without Fathiha),
-from Muwatta- I have divided prayer between me and my servants in two parts. My servants says "al humdu lilahee rabbil alameen" - Allah says my servant has praised. Arahman niraheem-
